Text Link Ads offer a partial alternative to the contextual ad programs, but it’s real strength comes from offering another string to the bow. i.e implemented correctly, it can work very effectively in combination with other Ad Programs.

Key Points

• Text Link Ads are not contextual, but offer simple static html links.
• There is a high degree of control over what ads appear on your site. In fact there is a voluntary option to pre approve new ads by email.
• Text Link Ads can be run along side other ad programs, in particular contextual ad programs. Although, it is always wise to check terms and conditions.
• An important feature for smaller publishers is the minimum payment threshold of $25 via check. There is no minimum for PayPal payments.
• Ad pricing is done by algorithm allowing for traffic (Alexa Rank), web site theme, and link popularity.
