Find Direct Advertisers For Your Blog
There are some key principles to follow if you want to attract direct advertisers.
Here are my key suggestions:
1. Keep extensive records of your blogs traffic. Use a server side stats package as these will offer greater levels of accuracy and in my experience this is the sort of data advertisers will require. Good stats packages to consider might be AWstats and Webalizer.
2. Collect traffic demographics. Advertisers will want to know if your readership are in their target market.
3. If you have certain articles or keywords that are particularly productive for your site - collate these and present them to an advertiser.
4. Approach companies with products and services you have recently written about. They might be flattered by the attention and give you serious consideration in their next campaign.
5. Target smaller companies and build up to bigger ones as you get more proficient at selling your wares.
6. It’s important to have your facts straight before you start trying to sell ad space. Put together a rate card, a list of the ad formats permitted, length of campaign permitted etc.
7. Don’t be afraid to discount for longer sign ups. E.g 10% discount for taking ad space over 3 months.
8. Targeted traffic is a major selling point, highlight your particular niche to advertisers.
9. Does your blog get linked to from other key blogs in your niche? If it does, tell advertisers about it.
